 Ejections


a)     It is an automatic ejection from the game if any coach leaves the bench or crosses the foul line to argue about ball/strike, safe/out or fair/foul balls.  After a warning, STOP - DO NOT cross the foul line.

 

b)    Coaches and/or players that are ejected, MUST leave the dugout and refrain from further disturbances.  If the coach/player DOES NOT leave in one (1) minute, the game will be declared a forfeit and awarded to the opposing team. The score shall be recorded 7-0 for a seven inning game.  Coaches and players who DO NOT abide by these D.E.I.L rules, will be subject to league disciplinary action.

  Steps to be taken in the event of an ejection:

      1.  Umpire Actions

a)      The umpire shall inform the coach/player they are ejected from the game.  A suspension will be in effect until a team executive is informed (from the D.E.I.L division convenor) that the suspension from play is over.  A suspension   will be in effect for at least one additional game.

b)      The umpire shall complete an Ejection Report after the game, noting the following information: date, division, diamond, home and visiting teams, plate and base umpires, name and sweater number of ejected player/coach, reason for ejection and summary of event.

c)      The umpire will ensure the division convenor is given details of the incident within 24 hours.

d)    The umpire will immediately provide the D.E.I.L Convenor details of the ejection.

e)         2.  Division Convenor Actions

a)      After receiving the details of the incident, the divisional convenor will advise the appropriate people on the length of the suspension. 

NOTE: - the first ejection will automatically be at least one additional game.

- The second ejection (to the same individual) will automatically be at least   two additional games.

- The third ejection (or an ejection due to an incident of a serious nature) will   automatically require a ruling by the D.E.I.L Committee.

b) Inform the offending team of the length of the suspension.

c) Inform other division teams as required.

d) Inform the association rep of the offending team

(I.e. B.N.B.A, Cartwright, Courtice, O.L.M.B.A.)  

3. D.E.I.L. INTERLOCK Actions

a)      The D.E.I.L Committee. will review all ejections/suspensions at their monthly meetings.

b)       In the event of a serious incident or on the 3rd ejection of the same individual, the D.E.I.L Committee. will call an emergency meeting to review the matter. (An attempt will be made to have the umpire, player/coach and another team official present at this hearing.)
